Wilmington, USA - U.S. President-elect Joe Biden vowed on Saturday to unite Americans and try to heal differences after what he called a "convincing" victory over Donald Trump.

"It's time for healing in America," Biden told supporters at an outdoor rally in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware.

"I promise to be a president who does not want to divide, but to unite," Biden said, drawing a sharp contrast to Trump's nearly four years of polarization.

Biden won the White House when Trump's presidency ended.
Acknowledging the disappointment of Trump's supporters, Biden said, "They are not our enemies. They are Americans.

"Let this era of demonization in America end here," Biden said.

"I wanted this office to restore the soul of America, to restore the backbone of this nation, the middle class, and for America to be respected again around the world," Biden said.

Vice President Barack Obama paid special tribute to the African American community by noting his role in choosing him as the Democratic candidate to challenge Trump.

Biden was visibly cheerful as he addressed a socially dispersed crowd chasing the podium after Vice President-elect Kamala Harris introduced Bruce Springsteen to the sound of "We Care About Our Companions.

"People, the people of this nation have spoken. They have brought us a clear victory, a convincing victory," said Biden.
